Shivers

The Band - Music From Big Pink (Columbia; 1968)
This is the debut album by The Band. Levon Helm is one of the greatest drummers of all time! O and Bob Dylan did the album’s cover art
Highlights:
Tears of Rage
To Kingdom Come
The Weight
I Shall Be Released

Avey Tare and Panda Bear - Spirit They’re Gone, Spirit They’ve Vanished (2009; FatCat)
The very first recorded album from the founders of Animal Collective, Spirit is one of my favorites. The Drums on the record are almost entirely played with brushes, something that is scarcely seen in a psych/indie band. All the songs were written by Avey Tare
Highlights:
April and The Phantom
Chocolate Girl
La Rapet
Bat You’ll Fly
Alvin Row

King Khan and BBQ Show - Animal Party 7” (Fat Possum; 2008)
Includes Coloring Book
A side- Animal Party
B side- God Of Raisins

The Beach Boys - Smiley Smile (1967; Brother Records)
Definitely my favorite Beach Boys album. Just like on Pet Sounds, mostly everything was written, composed, and arranged by Brian Wilson. This was during a time of high drug intake for most of the Beach Boys, Brian included. This had a more than severe impact on Brian’s mental health and created dispute among the Beach Boys…especially Mike Love on what was, and was not going to “fit” on the album…….fuckin mike love
Highlights:
Heroes and Villains
Vege-Tables
Wind Chimes
She’s Goin’ Bald
…and of course….. Good Vibrations

Mississippi John Hurt - Blessed Be The Name: The Complete 1928 Okeh Recordings (Monk; 2010)
Possibly my favorite of all bluesmen, Mississippi John Hurt has a style and finesse like no other. His very gentle voice and his complex finger-picking combine to form some of the greatest early blues/folk/country music ever made.
Highlights:
Frankie
Got The Blues, Cant Be Satisfied
SpikeDriver Blues
Louis Collins
Blue Harvest Blues
